Welcome

to another newsletter of Centru Tbexbix. Read below about our March adventures :

Beyond our walls...

On the 2nd of March the Tbexbix staff was invited to the PSD Day in Bormla Secondary School. As the theme of that day was "Promoting yourself through volunteering", the Tbexbix volunteers shared their experiences with the students and told them more about the EU programme through which they came here to the Center: The European Voluntary Service, initiated and financed by the European Union. The students seemed very interested and enthusiatic to do an EVS themselves. (and we are looking forward to send volunteers to projects all over Europe as Centru Tbexbix has also been accredited as a sending organisation)

Beyond our walls

Our buzz word is "FUN"!

In the beginning of March Carnival arrived also in Centru Tbexbix. Everyone, including all the staff dressed up in fancy clothes and we had a lot of fun together singing and dancing to German Carnival songs, painting happy children's faces, making jumping clowns and eating vanilla pudding.

More kids for Yoga Shoots

Yoga Shoots is successfully going on with Centru Tbexbix hosting school classes from all over Malta including children in the age between 5 and 12. Apart from the Yoga component, our EVS volunteers take turns to present a power point about their country. The children always enjoy the different activities and love to sing, to do yoga and crafts and learn about healthy food. "I want to stay and sleep here!" said one of the children among other positive comments.

Time with nature

Nika writes:
"On the 26th of March I joined Katherine and George to take the kids for a Saturday outing in Buskett. Already at the beginning I was very surprised how relaxed everything was and the kids were so happy to go out, to have space and time to run around. We all had a really great time running, playing hide and seek, punching the ball and of course singing, screaming and laughing too. Before leaving we observed two minutes of silence and thanked the creatures and hugged the trees for allowing us to share their space".

Indian Vegetarian Lunch

On the last day of March it was time for another fundraising activity. Indian food seems to be a favourite among our patrons, so we decided on an Indian lunch. 60 people enjoyed delicious Indian food (including homemade samosas) followed by a performance by singer / songwriter Madhurita and Maetreya on the guitar. Thanks to all who made this another successful event.

Goodbye Lucia

Once again this month we had to say goodbye to another volunteer. For Lucia, teacher of yoga, sports
and Aerobics, the time came to leave Malta.

She writes:
It's hard to describe my Evs experience in a few lines.
"I've been in Malta for eleven months. I left that tiny and sunny island one month ago but the memory is still clear in my mind.
I arrived there as an "empty box", curious to know another country, culture and language but at the same time afraid to leave my city, friends and family and my everyday life…and I came back home with a big baggage full of memories, experiences and positive emotions.
If I close my eyes I'm still there…
I can hear the children singing during the circle time or shouting, running and saying "eya miss" in the yard…
I can hear Arianna's music while she was cooking in the kitchen, the contagious laugh of Anna and Cristina and Kamala calling me into the office for doing some bureaucratic stuff…
I can hear the girls chatting in the computer room organizing lessons or weekend outings I can see all the EVS group doing yoga on a relaxed Thursday morning led by Didi, Iishana or Corinna and Bettina guiding the children in some sporting exercises.
I can see Lesha, Mehmet or Ozzy resting comfortably on the couch, David working hidden in the basement with his scary music, Ogun preparing some special art&crafts lesson in the yard or cleaning everything with sponge and soap and Bettina sitting on the stairs taking a sun bath.
I can smell the delicious bread prepared by Corinna or the spicy cooking experiments of Jana and
Gabriella and the daily afterlunch coffee…
I can feel the maternal hug of Kamala and the reassuring one of Cristina…
At Centru Tbexbix I found a new family."
After a short vacation in her home in Italy, she is now in Thailand working in another Ananda Marga project, Baan Unrak, a home for 150 children, for 3 months. While wishing her a lot of satisfaction in this next phase of her volunteering, we would like to say a big thank you for her selfless work in Centru Tbexbix.
